The Vivian/Webster Family Album

This gallery is a look at where Bruce and I lived during our almost six years in "the District"--Washington, DC. When we first moved there we still had three kids living with us, Wes, Jon, and Crys, but by the time we moved from the house on Huntington Street to the one on Quebec Street, both Wes and Jon had moved back to Utah and California. Emily spent time with us after we moved to Quebec Street, and that's where we were living when we got two more dogs, Laverne and Shirley, so we still had a houseful.

Sandra Webster > A glimpse of the backyard, and a feeling for the neighborhood. In the distance, on the upper left-hand side, you can see the corner of a fairly tall building. That building sat on the other side of Connecticut Avenue, one of the main streets in DC. As you can see, there were just five or so houses between ours and Connecticut. It made flagging down taxis easy, something I miss where we are now, which is several blocks from Connecticut.

Sandra Webster > This is a view of Huntington Street looking the other direction, towards Reno Road (another major thoroughfare). This was taken after a snowfall that actually stuck around for awhile, in 2000.

Sandra Webster > ...And here's a slightly broader view of the rather small backyard. Winter, 2000.

Sandra Webster > Here's a view from the back of the yard looking toward (surprise!) the back of the house. Snow's gone--it's suddenly summer, just like that.

It's surprising to me how small the house looks. The bay window is part of the kitchen. The windows directly above were in the master bedroom.

Sandra Webster > This was one of Deacon's favorite places. He'd keep watch over the yard, making sure no birds or squirrels dared set foot on his land!
