Aaron was born just thirteen months after Chase, on July 23, 1974. Some people have asked me if I knew what I was doing having two babies so close together. The answer is no. But I was young and happy and I didn't know, then, that having children that close together was hard. It took awhile to learn that!
Aaron was born in Utah Valley Hospital (now named--pretentiously, I think--Utah Valley Regional Medical Center), in Provo, Utah. His birth was distinguished by two facts: First, fed up with the doctor I'd been going to through the pregnancy, I changed doctors three days before he was born. I apparently liked living life on the edge. Second, I student-taught a Lamaze class the evening before he was born, while I was in early labor. What was I thinking?
It's hard to separate photos of Chase and Aaron since they were only thirteen months apart. In fact, for the first few years of their lives they sometimes seemed like twins. They did everything together.
This is baby Aaron at about four or five days old, taking a nap with his dad. It was late July in Utah, and very, very hot.
